This post originally went up the week after Sacramento’s first Dîner en Blanc. We are lucky enough to be hosting a second dinner and I cannot wait! As of today, the event is sold out. I can’t believe how fast that went! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at this years dinner and I know it will be even more amazing our sophomore year…..
Oh my god! It’s been almost a week since the very first Dîner en Blanc Sacramento and I’m still smiling about it. Let me take you back to the very beginning…..
About a month and a half ago, I get a lovely email from my friend, Tre Borden, asking me if I want to be a part of the inaugural Dîner en Blanc for Sacramento. If you have never heard of this dinner, it is an international company based in Montreal. They are responsible for creating a secret, pop up dinner party in over 70 cities that span across the globe. This year, they approached the lovely and talented Maritza Davis, the co-founder of Unseen Heroes (a wildly successful events company here in Sacramento) to hold the dinner in our fair city. Thus began a team of some of the most talented and incredible people I have had the pleasure of meeting.
The concept is pretty simple. Gather, in our case, 1,000 people. Make them dress in white and tell them to bring their table, chairs, linens, tablescapes, utensils, glassware, and meet at a secret location in the city. Once at the destination, set up everything, and eat, drink, and dance the night away. When the music stops and the wine is drunk, gather all your wares and bring it all home, leaving the location behind like you had never even been there.
For weeks we worked going over information about dress codes, registration information, e-store FAQs all without knowing where the event was going to be taking place. I was lucky enough to be a leader of a group of 20 people. DEB Sacramento paired with our Regional Transit and the Sacramento PD to gather people at different meeting points to bring them to the destination of the dinner.
Just a few weeks ago, our city opened our new and breathtaking basketball arena and concert venue, so it was a welcomed surprise to see us arriving at the Golden 1 center.
I was so impressed by the outfits, the decorations, the DJ!!! But most of all I was impressed by our community. I have lived in Sacramento for most of my life, but I have never seen an event like this. The energy of the crowd was overwhelmingly excited and happy. People were just there to eat and have a good time. I can’t WAIT to do it all over again next year.
After WEEKS of searching, I settled on Rue 107 bodysuit and mesh skirt, a ton of pearls, ASOS silver shoes, and a vintage Chanel camellia pin.
Our FANTASTIC hosts of the event! Tre Borden, Maritza Davis, Libby Siino, Michelle Odell, Christine Ault, and Bobbin Mulvaney
